5 Minute DIY Octopus Earrings

I decided to have a bit of fun and join in the March Bead Challenge over at Fusion Beads. Today’s challenge was to make a pair of earrings that show your style. I whipped up this funky octopus pair in less than 5 minutes.

If you’d like to make your own set it’s super simple. For tools you just need two pairs of jewelry pliers (flat needlenose work best.) I picked up the earring hooks at Walmart a few years back as part of a set. The octopus charms came from ebay for about $1 shipped.

All you need to do is use your pliers to open the hoop at the bottom of the earring hooks, slide your charm on, and use your pliers to close the loop again.

It only take a minutes and voila,  you’ve got new earrings!

The Heihei Cocktail – Moana Inspired

We finally got the chance to see Moana the other night. In honor of the occasion Chris created this awesome cocktail for me. I’m calling it The Heihei.

If you haven’t seen the movie yet you’re in for a treat. Heihei is quite possibly the best Disney animal ever created. He’s loveable and stupid, just like the chickens I raised in high school.

This cocktail is sweet, tangy, and tropical- perfect for a Moana movie night.

Instructions
  1. Fill your glass of choice with ice. Shake (or stir) together the ingredients (except for the grenadine.)
  2. For a sweeter cocktail pour the grenadine down the center of the drink just before serving. This creates a layered look.
  3. Garnish with 3 marashino cherries skewered between a thin lemon slice on a cocktail umbrella. Add a lemon twist and enjoy.
